5 Apartment Decorations For Fall

Sweaters, scarves, and pumpkin spice marks the entrance of autumn, and this means decorating your apartment with all things orange and cozy. Between the leaves, cider, and pies, fall is by far our favorite time of year.

Here are some of our favorite fall décor ideas that you can craft up today:

1. Painted Acorns

Fallen acorns are everywhere this time of year, and they are an excellent decorative piece. Go outside and gather some acorns, and make sure they’re intact and free from holes. Wash them thoroughly, then paint them with your favorite acrylic paint colors.

Place them in a glass bowl to create a colorful centerpiece that brings in the fall season with style.

2. Autumn Orange Garlands

To add a whiff of autumn to your apartment, stop by the grocery store and pick up some oranges and cinnamon sticks. Cut the oranges in slices, and then dry them on a cookie sheet in the oven for about 4 hours. Once they are dried, leave them for 12 hours.

Once they’ve cooled, drill holes in the cinnamon sticks, and start stringing them on some twine. Alternate cinnamon and dried orange slices for the desired length. Tie off the garland, and hang it up in an open area to enjoy the warm and spicy scent.

3. Paint Some Pumpkins

Yes, it’s cliché, but pumpkins are a versatile and cheap decoration during the fall season. Paint them bright and bold, or understated and elegant. Then, set them on the porch or by the door to help usher in a cozy autumn mood.

4. Paint Some Pumpkins

Like we said, pumpkins are versatile. Pick up some potting soil and a few succulents, and you’ve got the makings for a stylish pumpkin planter.

Cut off the top of the pumpkin, and scoop out the insides. Next, add enough potting soil to fill the pumpkin to within 1” of the top. Plant the succulents in the soil, and tamp them in lightly. Add in some more soil if necessary. Water lightly, and set the planter on the table as a centerpiece. The pumpkin will slowly decompose, so keep water to a minimum, and don’t place the pumpkin on an expensive surface.

5. Leaf Garland

Stop by the dollar store for some cheap fall leaves and clear fishing line. Thread the line through a thick needle, and string the leaves together by coming up through the base, and down through the tip.

When you have your desired length, tie off the garland, and use it to decorate an empty wall space or doorway.
